MY PROCESS

The idea of metamorphosis is a subtle thread running through much of my work. I am interested in how material responds to the maker; how technique is both a history-rich practice and a happy accident; and in the cross disciplinary discovery of mixed media. Below I highlight a few of the techniques, and materials, that show up in my work. Further on I showcase some projects: commissions for public entities and private requests across a range of media, subject matter, and application. COMMISSIONS

A typical commission in my art practice is a request for a custom piece for a residence or business. I work closely with the client to establish the scope of the project such as size, medium, shipping, installation and timeline. In terms of imagery, often the client is familiar with my work and will give me carte blanche to create something for them. Sometimes I am given some general guidelines or thoughts to work with. PRODUCT DESIGN

Having worked as a textile designer and Textile Design Instructor I have created graphic detail, embroidery and knits for Women’s Apparel and Home Furnishings. I particularly like designing for children. Here are two of my favorite designs:
